Journal of Global Ageing. Countdown 2024.

Quick spot for this week. Last September I shared news from the UK, that the British Society of Gerontology in association with Policy Press at Bristol University announced that a new publication – the Journal of Global Ageing will make it first publication in early summer of 2024. As the joint press releases stated, this will be “a transdisciplinary journal which is committed to advancing our understanding of the global processes of ageing.”

So let this serve as a reminder that with only about three months to go, right now might be the time to get in your submission if you hope to make a contribution to the first issue. Apart from Research and Review articles, the editorial team led by Dr. Martin Hyde at Swansea University is looking also for Debates. This I find stimulating for as the instruction page in part says: “Debate articles provide a space for authors to critically engage with emerging issues and/or tackle long running controversies within the study of ageing and later life.”

Since summer 2023 the call for submissions has been open, and notably the editors also state “we encourage submissions from disciplines/fields that are currently under-represented in gerontology, e.g. environmental science, development theory, material science and design.” This is an opportunity to see Canadian colleagues and friends, academics or professionals in the field of ageing and longevity, build on the global conversation in this under-represented request.
