In Part 2 of the 2024 digest for my Change Rangers website Resource section update are listings of webinars or podcast series that I’ve accessed, covering subjects on ageing and longevity, digital health and urban design and more that all feed into my thought process on “recoding a longevity society” which is my tag line, suggesting that societal constructs of the past are in need of rapid change, shaped by contributions from all generations, across all ages in a global narrative.

Sandra Rotman Centre for Health Sector Strategy

Future oriented, highly informative, lively webinars moderated by Will Falk, Executive-in-Residence, Rotman School of Management. Since Dec.2021, I have Zoomed in on 7 of the events in this series. Digital Health is of particular focus, for example the Sept.26, 2023 Digital health in Canada: The Current State and a Look Ahead where the panel discussion clarified how digital health works and in particular the impact of interoperability within the healthcare industry.

The Future Age Podcast Series

SE Health

New in 2023 this SE Health podcast series also future oriented, with 8 episodes in the vault, is hosted by Zannat Reza, Director of Future of Aging social impact team. Each session is under 30 minutes and the guest speakers have covered engaging topics from 3D printed housing projects to Climate Change and Aging. Each podcast can be heard on the easy to navigate SE Health Future of Aging web page with full written transcripts also provided.

Equity by Design Webinar Series

AARP International

If your interest in a longevity society is on housing and urban design in age-inclusive communities as mine is, then this outstanding webinar series from AARP International is a must see. Moderated by Stephanie Firestone since March 2021, an mix of knowledgeable international speakers who do work at the local level have presented on topics such as Rightsizing in Place (Ava Housing, Ireland) to Urban Regeneration (Quiero Mi Barrio, Chili). Case study sheets are also available.

Community of Innovation Podcast Series

Canada’s Centre for Aging & Brian Health Innovation (CABHI)

In its 4th season, this CABHI podcast with YouTube viewing is hosted by Dr. Allison Sekuler, President & Chief Scientist and Dr. Rosanne Aleong, Director of Research, Innovation, and Translation, features professionals in healthcare, research, technology and business, in addition to end-user older adults and their caregivers, about innovative design practices and healthtech solutions. A research arm of Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, KITE has a regular speaker/lecture series, a combination of in person/on line hybrid, featuring a range of unique research topics that include prevention, restoration and independent living. Fascinating learning for students and the curious.
