Peter Thomas has operated as a Qualified Chartered Accountant for 20 years. His sole practitioner accounting practice is based in Toronto, focused on serving owner managed businesses and individuals, since 1987. In 1998 Peter achieved his CFP designation and his CPA designation in the United States.
Peter’s personalized “listening” approach is holistic and the human touch makes Peter one of the most effective financial advisors in North America. Many of Peter’s clients are so comfortable with his service that he works well over the phone and makes travel not as necessary for problem solving issues.
In addition to his expertise on day to day practical accounting and financial matters, Peter Thomas is a teacher at several ‘Professional Development” courses for the Institute for Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) over the last few years. This involves traveling across the province to keep Ontario practitioners aware of new rules. He also teaches for the University of Toronto (Intermediate accounting and auditing) numerous sections. Peter is also a Seminar leader at the Ontario School of Accountancy (three week course) from 1988 to present and has written and developed several cases for U of T as well as the ICAO. He has extensive individual and group counselling experience with candidates preparing for the uniformed exams (UFE) for the Chartered Accountants of Canada.

Doug Schmidt is the director and founder of CareersPlus Inc. After a successful career of more than 25 years in finance, Doug resigned his position as a Vice-President and returned to school to earn an Honours B.A. in psychology at York University, followed by Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degrees in the Counselling Psychology department at the University of Toronto. During this period of formal training, he counselled employees of a large public organization and patients in the psychology department of a hospital.
Doug's doctoral research focused on the factors that lead to the attainment of the position of chief executive officer of a major corporation. He has been interested in the area of personal growth and development for over twenty-five years.
Doug's passion is to help people realize more of their potential. "People are far more gifted and talented than what they believe," remarked Doug. "I love to encourage and support people so that they can break free of self-imposed constraints. What the training and the experiences of the seven years of formal training and my five years in private practice have given me are the processes tools to be an effective facilitator in supporting others in the processes of change and growth." Doug teaches the course, "Pursuit of Happiness: Recreating Life's Journey" at the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies. He has also conducted seminars at the Mount Alverno Retreat Centre in Caledon and has presented workshops at Ryerson Polytechnical University, Toronto School of Theology and for the West Toronto Counselling Network.

Elaine Sigurdson is President of Insight to Action - providing a range of consulting services to organizations in support of their talent development objectives. In addition, she provides assessment and coaching to individuals to assist them in developing the skills and strategies for success in their careers.
Prior to establishing her own practice, Ms. Sigurdson spent four years as a Principal with Palmer & Company Executive Recruitment where she conducted senior management and professional searches covering a range of functions and industry sectors. Earlier in her career, she was Senior Consultant in the Human Resources practice of Touche Ross and Partners where she specialized in psychological appraisals, career transition counselling, and organizational consulting.
Ms. Sigurdson is qualified and experienced with a broad array of assessment instruments (e.g., the MBTI, the EQ-i, and the Voices 360 feedback instrument) which she uses in the context of career and executive coaching, and in the selection/succession planning process for organizations.
Elaine Sigurdson has a Masters degree in Psychology and over 20 years of diverse experience as a human resources consultant with expertise in psychological assessment, career planning and transition and executive recruitment. Ms. Sigurdson is a Certified Management Consultant and Member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. She is President of the Association of Career Professionals International - Toronto Chapter and recently obtained certification as a Career Management Fellow with the Institute of Career Certification International.

Mary Prime is the sole owner of Prime Consulting – a personal financial coaching business. She has been consulting for over 15 years, following a 10-year banking career with the Royal Bank of Canada. Her business is currently focused on helping people make decisions in times of career and life changes. Issues of cash management, debt reduction, tax minimization, investment and retirement planning are critical to future plans.
Mary also counsels employees on Financial and Retirement Planning, often as part of the employers training and education program. She delivers a “Financial Fitness” workshop to employees in any stage of life, combining knowledge and case studies around budgeting and planning. She is a very effective communicator and able to relate across all levels.

Mary Prime is a Certified Financial Planner C.F.P, and holds an Honors B.A. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. Mary has her EPC designation- Elder Planning Counselor. This designation will help seniors identify Mary as someone who has a special interest and proficiency in dealing with them and their needs. She has an expertise in seniors’ issues including aging, health, financial planning considerations, long-term care and end of life issues.
